Edit a price in the pricebook (global rate change)

Editing a price updates the existing price in place, it does not create a new price or change the price ID. Depending on what needs to change, there are two types of edits. Edits that take effect immediately The price name can be updated at any time without creating a new version. Updating a name globally updates how the line item appears on invoices in Orb and the Customer Portal. Historical invoice PDFs are not affected.
  1. Open the price from the product detail page.
  2. Click Edit next to the price name.
  3. Update the name and click Save.
Edits that require an effective date (versioned changes) Changes to rate configuration, such as the price model or per-unit rate, create a new price version with an effective date. The price ID stays the same. All plans and subscriptions referencing this price automatically receive the updated rate on that date, with no plan migration needed.  Some fields cannot be edited on an existing price at all, including the product, price type, billing cycle, invoicing currency, and billable metric. To change these, create a new price. For editing fields that can be edited:
  1. Open the price from the product detail page.
  2. Click Edit price.
  3. Update the rate configuration.
  4. Set the effective date:
    • Immediately - the new rate takes effect now. The next invoice will show two line items: one for usage under the old rate and one for usage under the new rate. No mid-cycle invoice is generated.
    • Specific date - the new rate takes effect on a chosen future date, useful for giving customers advance notice of a price change.
  5. Review the impact summary showing affected plans and subscriptions.
  6. Click Save.
With a global price edit:
  1. Subscriptions with overrides are preserved. If a subscription has a custom price override for this price, it stays on the overridden rate.
  2. Adjustments are preserved. Percentage discounts, minimums, and maximums applied on top of this price continue to evaluate against the new price configuration.
